8th December – Irishtown church celebrates it’s Ruby Anniversary

On 8th December Irishtown church will celebrate it’s 40th Anniversary.  This will be a special occasion and we are looking for any memorabilia/photos that anyone may have from December 1975.  All images will be scanned and returned promptly to the owner.  If you have anything from this time that you would like to share for this event please contact Breda on 087-2354501 or email bredaraftery@eircom.net.  Please be assured that all images, newspaper clippings/ fundraiser posters will be scanned and returned promptly to their owner.


 

10th and 11th October – The Annual Harvest Masses

The Annual Harvest Masses in our parish will be held on Sat & Sun 10th and 11th October. Please gather as much farm & home produce as you can i.e. vegetables, fruits, jam, (home baking especially
welcome), eggs, turf, logs, straw etc., and bring to the church on the
afternoon of Sat 10th. The produce will be sold after Mass and the
proceeds divided between two charities i.e. Kilvine Defibrillator Group,
which needs funds to replace the batteries in all 15 defibrillators throughout the
parish, and Dochas Leamal, a Dublin based charity of which one of our own
parishioners is a member. Dochas Leamal help very vulnerable & abused
children and young girls in India. Your generosity is much appreciated.

 


 

October 2nd, 3rd, 4th  – Martin Donoghue Trad Festival

The Martin Donoghue Trad Festival.  The Martin Donoghue programme will involve the best of tuition from Ireland’s most prominent musicians.  It will also include an Irish Traditional mass and a whole range of activities including sessions. Below is a brief overview (full programme and timetable to follow)

Friday 2nd – Launch of the “The Martin Donoghue Trad Festival. Music by Rambling Rogues, followed by session for young musicians. Also Music and Singing session in local pubs.

Saturday 3rd October – Registration for Master classes/workshops.  Classes/Workshops will take place in Ballindine National School.  The cost of classes/workshops and concert to be finalised.   A Grand Concert will take place in Ballindine church and will feature tutors for the festival and local musicians.  The concert will also feature the students performing a piece composed and arranged with tunes from the late Martin Donoghue.  Music and singing sessions will also take place in the local pubs.

Sunday 4th October – Festival mass,  A Youth Trad Disco followed by a “Slán Abhaile” Session”


Wednesday 30th September – talk provided by MindSpace Mayo

Talk on the services provided by MindSpace Mayo on Wednesday 30th Sept at 7.30pm in Cúram Family Centre. MindSpace Mayo supports young people aged 15-25 years with support around their mental health and well-being. Peadar Gardiner, Project Manager of MindSpace will talk about the supports available to young people and their family members. This talk is open to all. September 26-27th – Eucharistic Congress

Only two weeks now till the Eucharistic Congress. If you havent a timetable please pick one up today. There’s something for everyone – workshops on family life, spirituality, the celebration of Mass, the Anointing of the Sick, Confessions, Processions, an all night vigil and much more. September 26-27th in Knock. All are welcome!

Sunday 16th August at 12 noon – Mass will be celebrated in Ballindine Church in remembrance of the past and present residents of the village of Skevard, Ballindine.  This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the first settlers to this village in 1915.  All are welcome


Saturday 1st August at 9pm – Cemetery Mass in Kilvine Cemetery


Wednesday 22nd July at 10.30 am – The Catholic Grandparents Association invites you and your family to celebrate and honour St Joachim and St Anne, Grandparents of Jesus.  Archbishop Michael Neary will offer this Mass for all the Grandparents of the diocese both living and dead.  Light refreshments will be served after Mass.  Everyone is welcome

Sunday 5th July at 12 noon – Cemetery Mass in Ballindine New Cemetery
